Yahoo Publisher Network is currently invite only. However, it’s fairly easy to get an invite after signing up, although you might have to wait for up to a month. Recent reports from people at Digitalpoint say that it pays more than Google AdSense per click, but gets less clicks because it is less relevant.
In my personal experience, Yahoo does get less clicks. I only got ads about home morgages and stuff, and they paid fairly low. That’s just my experience. You might have to try it out.
But, I haven’t seen it on many forums, so I have to conclude that it’s not a good advertising solution for forums. If it has good ads for your site, good for you.
For Yahoo, I didn’t have a positive experience with them. That doesn’t mean that you won’t or will. It’s not for a forum, but it definitely has it’s place, and as it grows, hey–it might become perfect for a forum! All you can do is test it on your site. If Google has pulled the plug on you, that may be another reason to use Yahoo.
Hopefully, this will help you decide if you want to use YPN or not! If you have any questions, don’t be afraid to comment! Tomorrow, I’ll also blog about another popular ad network, although usually not contextual, it’s used by many blogs and other sites - Chitika. Until then, see ya!
