Well, hi people! I guess I’m gonna be helping Lappy with this blog… partially because I’ve got nothing better to do. I’m one of the more active members on the Krazyletter forums, recently. Technically, I’m also one of the oldest… but I took a year-long or so leave, for various reasons. I also make video games… I just never finish them…
But, enough about me. Let’s go to what you guys even read this for, website stuff:
First of all, I’d like to draw your attention to http://www.streamdown.net/ , and it’s BB system aptly named UltraBB. It’s a nice little system, gives you basic features, not as much as PHPBB or IPB, but it uses a helluva lot less system resources. I guess they also provide hosting and stuff, but I personally haven’t tried that to find anything out about it.
Next, a tip to all you people wanting to run websites: You need a reason for people to go there before anyone will ever go there. Without it’s Arcade, Krazyletter would be almost lifeless. Without hosting, Helionet would be even worse off than it is right now. My personal site really doesn’t have any content, and 90% of the page views are from myself. Maybe I’ll get more once I finish a game, which wil give me some content, but until then, my site is lifeless. Your site will be too, unless you have a good reason to go there. I mean, how often would you visit a site that says “Hey! This is my site! Nothing here yet, but visit it every day!!! lololololololololooloollllol!!1!11!!!!1!1!” I’d imagine most of us would never go back there again. So get some content, and update it, so visitors come back.
