vBulletin has become my favorite (paid) bulletin board software as late. Why? It’s use of Javascript is much better than IPB’s, and it’s become more user-friendly to use than IPB because of that. Big-Board’s Statistics show that by far, vBulletin has more boards that are “big”, than IPB. Big-Boards define “big” to be a board with over 500,000 posts. That’s a lot. I’m not in that list, yet. Maybe I should switch from IPB to vBulletin. But, all of my customizations would be gone. So, that’s why I don’t switch. Also, it’s actually helpful in vBulletin when you click on a person’s username in the profile when looking in a topic, because then it gives you all those “profile options” that you get in IPB. Less loading time, and the same number of clicks. That’s a good use of Javascript/AJAX, while in IPB 2.1 you have to click on MORE things to view the stuff you’d normally get in Profile Options. vBulletin is also fairly quick loading, and lightweight. Most of the reasons to get vBulletin are in my post about IPB, so next time I will post about PHPBB ![]()
