SMF forum software

I don’t really have much to say about SMF, but if you don’t want to mod PHPBB too much to get what you want, SMF is a good free forum that has many out-of-box features that PHPBB does not have.

SMF may also be a good choice for starters.

However, I do not like the default layout of SMF, and the overall presentation. But, those can always be customized, so SMF might be a viable choice for you :)

For some reason your page popped up when I was trying to research krazy’s phpbb host thing (yay for google?).

Thought I would leave a comment out of the blue, SMF might offer a bunch more features and stuff… but its almost impossible to theme. phpBB “templating” isn’t easy either, but its also a ton easier to understand then SMF’s.

If you don’t like phpBB’s default features, you can always look into to premod’d versions, or simply wait for easyMOD support to be supported… then you don’t have to worry about ever manually modding anything ever again! Or, even, use easyMOD now, its in beta, but there are a lot of people currently using it, and rarely do they run into problems.

I love SMF, but the permission system can be very difficult to use at times… I like the fact that you can have sub-forums, and the default layout in RC2 is VERY good, IMHO.
