One of the most important things when upgrading forum software is to consider how it will affect the mods installed.

A few months ago, when I actually had a personal site, I had various mods installed, one of which included a point mod. However, when I upgraded to the new version of SMF, it wreaked havoc upon my points system. It led to the eventual shutdown of the site…

So, whenever you upgrade your forum system software, check compatibility with other mods. Don’t make the same mistake I did.
