Can you rebuild domain names on the Facebook? Can you use ASP.NET on Facebook? Perl, Python, Ruby on Rails? I assume you can use PHP. How about databases? Can you use MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MS SQL?

The Facebook platform, until it is bascially a hosting service for an iframe that fits into a Facebook page, cannot be as versatile as the current web model.

Furthermore, Facebook is specialized - it's for social networking. Is Google for social networking?

Not to mention that centralizing everything would made everyone depend on Facebook. Looks like a dangerous situation.

The DNS platform?

You haven't looked into the Facebook platform then - the applications you can build are immense - basically anything on the web can be rebuilt into a Facebook application. Add global username/password - social actions (see what people are doing on other social media) - Facebook is platform with tremendous potential.

I really don't see this happening. The Facebook platform is not nearly as versatile as the DNS platform.

If you want to be in control of your content and revenue - I don't think that blogging on Facebook is a good idea.
